For teenage midfielder, Bertrand Traore of Burkina Faso, playing at the Africa Cup of Nations remains a dream come true for him like every other footballeter. Bertrand Traore became the third-youngest player ever to appear at the finals of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Traore, who is youngest player at the tournament, tells Cafonline.com he is still revelling at the opportunity to share the same stage with the finest footballers on the continent.
“The feeling is great. For a young player of my age to play at the Africa Cup of Nations, there can be no better feelings than joyous. It is a very good experience to share the same platform with these great players.”
The talented midfielder who stole the headlines with his superb performance with the Burkina Faso U-17 team during the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Mexico last year added that it is still a learning process for him.
“I’m still learning a lot of things to improve on my game. Being part of the final squad was a great opportunity and to play my first game is another step for my career.”
Traore, who played alongside his senior brother Alain (seven-years older) in the Stallions squad, expressed disappointment with their performance after bowing out of the competition pointless.
“It was a bad tournament for us. Everything went bad for us. We played very well but the results never came.
“We have to go back home and prepare for future competitions. I believe we will get better in future competitions.”
Traore joins the likes Shiva-Star N’zighou of Gabon and Zambian Emmanuel Mbola as the youngest players to feature at the Africa Cup of Nations.
